What sort of student are you looking for?
We are looking to establish that you are a hard-working, passionate individual who would be well placed to secure a role in the music industry upon graduation. A passion for music and an entrepreneurial spirit are both desirable qualities. Other qualities such as being inquisitive and being unafraid to challenge the status quo are things that would serve you well on our programme and, ultimately, employment in the music business.
What will I do on the BA Hons Music Business programme?
You will learn the core knowledge surrounding the modern music business, considering things such as streaming platforms, social media, distribution, traditional marketing, Web3, and much more. You will also be given opportunity to apply your learning in the real world by way of, for example, a guaranteed work placement and running a release campaign as part of your final year project.

You will be in contact with a skilled team of qualified, subject-specialist lecturers and academic staff, as well as student support and welfare officers. Furthermore, you will be given access to a dedicated industry mentor throughout your programme, as well as being able to access masterclasses and open seminars with some of the music industry’s leading professionals.

What will the admissions process & interview be like?
Prior to admission onto our BA Hons Music Business programme, we will ask you to complete a written assignment, an oracy assessment (short presentation) and a short interview with our academic and industry team. We will be looking to establish that you have the necessary academic and research skills to progress through the programme, as well as the requisite work ethic and attitude to be successful in landing your dream job in the music industry upon graduation.

How many students will be on the programme?
Student numbers will grow exponentially over a 5 year plan. However, for the first cohort (starting in September 2023), we will be accepting around 30 students.
